On the trail of old motorcycles ...

Head south via Fürnitz to the Wurzenpass (1073 m) and you're in Slovenia.

Head south via Fürnitz to the Wurzenpass (1073 m) and you're in Slovenia. Through Kranjska Gora to Jesenice and then Lipce. From the Biathlon World Cup location Pokljuka, a gravel road leads left to Bohinjska Bistrica and from there towards Skofja Loka to Železniki. Now motorcyclists can look forward to a very beautiful route via Kropa to Kranj. With the Seebergsattel (1218 m) in the Karawanken, the border with Carinthia is reached. The pass road itself is well developed and well paved. Pure asphalt riders get their money's worth with the Seebergsattel. Stop in Ebriach, west of Bad Eisenkappel, at the Zum Florian inn and visit the Bedi Böhm-Besim motorcycle museum there. Admission is free. Two dozen exhibits from the first half of the last century, beautifully arranged and in good condition, can be admired here. Then it goes further west and before the driveway to the Schaidasattel a detour to the Trögener Klamm is worthwhile. Bella ragazza - not only Italian women have beautiful curves ...

265 km with never-ending curves - on this tour, it's not just a good cappuccino that makes the heart beat faster ...

From Hermagor towards Tröpolach it goes to the Nassfeld (Passo Pramollo, 1552 m), past Carinthia's largest ski area to Pontebba in Italy. Continue through the worth seeing Val d'Aupa towards Moggio and Tolmezzo. If you have survived the rather confusing roundabout in Tolmezzo, you head towards Ampezzo, where you turn right to Sauris. Now it goes on the very narrow and winding road, with partially unlit tunnels, along the Lumi gorge up to Sauris at 1400 m (highest municipality in Friuli). Sauris is a linguistic island - here one speaks mostly "Zahrisch" in everyday life. The first inhabitants came from some border valleys between Tyrol and Carinthia in the middle of the 12th century and the language that still exists today developed from this. Sauris ham is known as a delicacy. A raw ham seasoned with mountain herbs and lightly smoked. Very nice restaurants. Continue to the pass over the Sella di Razzo (Razzosattel) and at the end of the pass road turn right towards Prato and Comeglians to Paluzza. The route then continues towards Timau over the well-developed Plöckenpass at 1360 m to Kötschach-Mauthen. There it goes in a northerly direction over the Gailbergpass to Oberdrauburg. Here you turn right and the rest of the route leads through the Obere Drautal towards Greifenburg-Weissensee and over the Kreuzbergpass (1077 m) it goes back to Hermagor.

Gmünd is the best preserved medieval town in Carinthia, and the Porsche car museum is also worth seeing.
